GCSO Sheriff Danny H. Rogers Announces His Candidacy for Re-Election
Keeping the Momentum of a Positive Change. Moving Guilford Forward.

I am proud to announce my candidacy for re-election as Sheriff of Guilford County. Since taking office in 2018, it has been one of the greatest honors of my life to serve this community.

Our success has been driven by strong partnerships within the community and the commitment of the men and women of the Guilford County Sheriff’s Office. The accomplishments highlighted below reflect how each focus area of our S.A.C.R.E.D. mission directly guides our work and serves as the foundation for the progress we have made.

S – Save taxpayer dollars through recidivism reduction

• Expanded re-entry programs to support successful transitions back into the community.

• Implemented jail diversion initiatives focused on behavioral health.

• Reduced repeat offenses through coordinated support services.

• Lowered long-term costs through prevention-focused programs.

A – Agency accountability and accreditation restoration

• Implemented body-worn cameras for all Detention Services Officers to enhance transparency.

• Obtained/Renewed agency CALEA accreditation and enhanced internal policies.

• Coordinated administrative and budget processes to ensure responsible use of taxpayer funds.

C – Create safer outcomes through community policing

• Established key operational units including the Guilford County Narcotics Task Force, Street Crimes Unit, Real Time Crime Center, Community Resource Unit, and Special Enforcement Team.

• Achieved significant drug seizures and arrests through focused enforcement and strong partnerships.

• Expanded the K-9 Unit to improve apprehensions and recover missing persons.

• Strengthened crime scene and major crimes investigations through effective staffing and training.

• Reinforced the School Resource Officer Division with modernized equipment and training.

R – Rebuild law enforcement and citizen relationships

• Increased school safety through visible patrols and a proactive approach.

• Restructured community outreach programs including the Sheriff’s Youth Academy Explorer Post 592, Junior Deputies, and Citizens Academy.

• Prioritized the Community Resource Unit to strengthen community engagement.

• Founded the Sheriff’s Community Roundtable and Senior Academy to educate and reflect voices across Guilford County.

E – Equip and support personnel to reduce officer attrition rates

• Raised Deputy Sheriff and Detention Services Officer salaries from the 50th to the 65th percentile.

• Expanded training opportunities to support professional development and organizational leadership.

• Reduced vacant positions through targeted marketing and community outreach.

D – Develop equitable employment practices

• Established behavioral health division including re-entry, jail diversion, and the peer support team.

• Continued developing equitable employment practices across the Sheriff’s Office.

• Increased opportunities for individuals from diverse ethnic backgrounds and women in leadership.

While I am proud of the work we have accomplished together, I know our mission is not complete. I am grateful for the trust placed in me. As Sheriff, I will continue to lead our S.A.C.R.E.D. mission by:

• Reducing violent crime through intelligence-driven policing.

• Strengthening partnerships with neighborhoods, schools, churches, and local organizations.

• Expanding mental and behavioral health services.

• Ensuring transparency, professionalism, and fairness at every level of the Sheriff’s Office.

• Investing in the next generation through mentorship, youth programs, and community opportunities.
